The West Prince Chamber of Commerce, established in 1903, is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving the business community in the West Prince area. Our programs are founded upon a vision to foster a thriving business community for present and future generations. We are an independent organization separate from government entities and are not funded by them. We maintain our independence from government influence by securing our own funding, operating under our own governance structure, advocating for the interests of its members independently, developing its own policy positions, and providing services and programs tailored to the needs of the business community.

Our mission is to empower West Prince businesses through networking, advocacy, and innovation, thereby contributing to the economic, civic, and social welfare of the region.

Role during Challenging Times:

Despite facing challenges such as a slow start in 2022 and ongoing pandemic effects, the Chamber remains pivotal in voicing business concerns and providing responsive feedback to the government. We are committed to advocating for inclusive and supportive rural communities while supporting initiatives like the Love Local PEI campaign to promote buying local.

The West Prince Chamber Board of Directors and staff are loyal to our members, and we strongly support the greater business community through past projects such as the Labour Market Development Project, through which we survey and assess the current labour market needs and issues facing rural businesses. We will continue to monitor the needs in the region and will advocate for forward thinking, innovative practices that will aid small businesses that face labour market challenges.

The objectives of the West Prince Chamber of Commerce are multi-faceted and include:

  • Promoting and improving trade, commerce, and the overall welfare of the area.
  • Advising and making recommendations to government entities.
  • Providing information to members regarding business regulations.
  • Collaborating with other Chambers of Commerce and organizations.
  • Facilitating cooperation and advancement of members’ pursuits.
  • Providing leadership and a collective voice for businesses.
  • Initiating and promoting economic and social progress within the community.
  • Expressing the business community’s views on local, regional, and national matters.
  • Conducting various promotional and fundraising activities as deemed appropriate.

Membership Eligibility: Membership is open to any individual in good standing who is directly or indirectly involved or interested in trade, commerce, or the economic and social welfare of the West Prince area.
